In 1975 Giant-Size X-Men #1 replaced a cancelled book's cast with an international team, and a young Chris Claremont took over the writing. He stayed for sixteen years. Spider-Man: Brand New Day Omnibus Vol. 1 begins the controversial post-One More Day reset, returning Peter Parker to a single, struggling, unlucky status quo while Amazing Spider-Man shifts to rotating creative teams and rapid publication rhythm. It is messy history, but it is also the rebuild of modern Peter.

Superior Spider-Man is the year Doctor Octopus wore Peter Parker's body and ran his life, convinced he could do it better. Dan Slott wrote it after eight years of building toward exactly this. The premise works because Otto genuinely is better at parts of it: he finishes Peter's doctorate, upgrades the equipment and dismantles the rogues' gallery. What he cannot do is be a person people want around, and the run is about that gap closing. Amazing #700 is here, which is where the swap becomes permanent.

Grant Morrison took over X-Men in 2001 and rebuilt it as science fiction about a species: the school opened to hundreds of students, mutants became a culture with fashion and drugs, and the costumes went black. Morrison's premise is that mutants are winning demographically and nobody has noticed, which reframes the whole franchise. Genosha's destruction in the first issue kills sixteen million people and the book never lets you forget it. Frank Quitely, Igor Kordey and Chris Bachalo draw it, and every X-Men run since has been either extending this or reacting against it.

The sixth Amazing omnibus covers the late seventies, including Marv Wolfman's complete run as writer and editor on the title. Wolfman's stretch introduced the Black Cat, who has been in Spider-Man's life ever since, and pushed the book toward the crime-adjacent tone it kept through the eighties. The F.O.O.M. and calendar material is the kind of thing that only appears in omnibus editions and never gets reprinted otherwise.

Rick Remender's Uncanny X-Force is the run where a black-ops mutant team decides who deserves to die, and then has to live with every answer. The Dark Angel Saga is the high point — Archangel's transformation into Apocalypse's heir, and Psylocke forced to choose — but the run's real subject is what killing costs a team that has convinced itself it is necessary. Jerome Opeña and Esad Ribić draw it, and it is widely considered the best X-book of the 2010s.

The fifth Ultimate Spider-Man omnibus is the end of Peter Parker's story in that universe, and the beginning of Miles Morales'. Death of Spider-Man is here, and it is one of the few superhero deaths that held: Peter dies at sixteen, in front of his family, and stays dead for years. Ultimate Fallout #4 is the first appearance of Miles Morales. Ultimate Marvel Team-Up is the other draw — early Bendis with artists like Bill Sienkiewicz and Mike Allred.

Daredevil by Chip Zdarsky Omnibus Vol. 1 begins with Matt Murdock shattered after a violent mistake in Hell's Kitchen. Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto rebuild Daredevil through guilt, faith, law and Wilson Fisk's New York, while Elektra moves closer to the centre of the mythos.

Jed MacKay's Moon Knight is a major modern creative statement on the character. Setting Marc Spector up as the proprietor of the Midnight Mission, a sanctuary for those touched by the night, MacKay merges supernatural detective work with the psychological complexity the character demands.

Al Ewing reinterprets the Hulk as a horror comic. Radical premise: by day Banner is dead, by night he returns. Mixes body horror, existential reflection, political critique and superheroic action in one package. Art by Joe Bennett in line with Bernie Wrightson on Swamp Thing. Eisner-nominated, critically acclaimed contemporary cult work.

House of M is the event where Wanda Maximoff rewrites reality into a world run by mutants, and then ends it with three words that cut the mutant population from millions to a few hundred. 'No more mutants' set the X-Men's status quo for the next decade, and the tie-ins are where the alternate world is actually explored — Spider-Man with Gwen Stacy alive, Wolverine remembering everything. Having Decimation: The Day After in the same volume closes the loop, since that is where the consequences begin.

PRH presents this as the full saga of Spider-Man's black costume before it becomes tied to Venom. The appeal is watching something that looks like an upgrade slowly reveal itself as a living problem Peter cannot simply take off. This is the clean omnibus shelf for the black costume era before Venom fully takes over the conversation. It lets readers follow the change across the main Spider-Man titles instead of piecing the saga together issue by issue.

PRH frames this volume around two major unions: an X-Men/Avengers team-up and the wedding of Jean Grey and Cyclops. It sits in the Blue & Gold era, where the mutant line mixes soap-opera emotion with wide Marvel Universe pressure. This is a very specific 1990s X-Men shelf: family, politics, Avengers crossover energy and the emotional centre of Scott and Jean all in one stretch before the line moves into its next major threat.

Ultimate Spider-Man Omnibus Vol. 4 keeps Brian Michael Bendis' Peter Parker moving through change, new collaborators and heavier choices, while the Ultimate version of Spider-Man grows beyond its opening era.

The third Amazing Spider-Man omnibus covers the transition from Stan Lee and John Romita Sr. to Gerry Conway, and the two issues that ended the Silver Age of the character. Issues #121-122 are here: the Green Goblin, Gwen Stacy and the George Washington Bridge. Nothing in superhero comics had done that before, and the industry treats it as the moment the genre stopped guaranteeing happy endings. The volume also contains the six-armed Spider-Man arc and the first appearances of Morbius and the Punisher.

Cable & X-Force collects the mid-nineties stretch when Marvel's two most commercially successful mutant properties shared writers, subplots and a body count. This is the period after Rob Liefeld left, when writers had to make the characters work without the launch hype: Cable's techno-organic virus becomes a real limitation, and X-Force stops being a strike team and starts being a group of teenagers with nowhere to go. Kelly Thompson's Captain Marvel run concluded with its most ambitious storytelling — escalating the threats, deepening the character work, and delivering a finale that honored everything built across the entire tenure. At , this second omnibus is a monument to one of Marvel's most consistently excellent modern runs.

Ultimate Marvel by Jonathan Hickman Omnibus collects his original 2010–2012 run on the first Ultimate Universe — not the 2024 relaunch, but the acclaimed earlier work that planted its seeds. Ultimate Comics Ultimates is geopolitical, high-concept superhero storytelling on a world scale: the rise of the hyper-accelerated posthuman "City," the collapse of nations, and the turn of Reed Richards toward the villain he will become — the Maker. X-Men: Blue & Gold – Mutant Genesis Omnibus captures the explosive early-90s relaunch energy of the X-Men, with Chris Claremont and Jim Lee reshaping the team’s visual identity for a new era. It is bright, crowded, dramatic and built around the moment when mutant comics became the centre of Marvel’s pop force. Collectors come to this for the Jim Lee moment, but the volume also matters because it captures the X-Men becoming a pop-cultural machine: team design, roster energy and soap-opera tension all sharpened for maximum impact.

Dawn of X is the first year of Jonathan Hickman's mutant relaunch, in which the X-Men stop being a persecuted minority and become a sovereign nation on Krakoa with its own laws, economy and resurrection protocol. Reading the six launch titles in publication order is the point: Hickman designed them as one book with six threads, and the Krakoan state only makes sense when you see the drug trade, the intelligence service and the diplomacy at the same time. This is the most influential X-Men status quo since 1991.

Agent Venom is Flash Thompson, Spider-Man's high-school bully turned war veteran, bonded to the symbiote as a government weapon he is allowed to wear for forty-eight hours at a time. Rick Remender writes the addiction metaphor without flinching: Flash is a recovering alcoholic wearing something that wants him to relapse. It is the run that made Venom a lead character rather than a Spider-Man villain, and it is the direct source of the version Marvel has published ever since.
