Background. World's Finest paired Superman and Batman in the same book for decades, long before anyone worried about whether their worlds fitted together. The Silver Age issues are the purest version: two friends solving improbable problems, usually with Robin along.

What's inside. Vol. 1 collects the Silver Age World's Finest run with art by Curt Swan and others. Vol. 2 collects the continuation, where the series gets properly strange.

Why it's worth it. This is the origin of the Superman and Batman friendship as a fixture rather than a crossover event, and Curt Swan drawing both characters every month is a large part of why the pairing stuck. It is also a good sample of what mainstream DC actually read like in the mid sixties, which is not what most people assume.
