Italy has the widest omnibus offering of any translated market in Europe, which makes it the right place to ask a sharper question: with the strongest local catalogue on the continent, what does the American edition still give an Italian collector?

Panini is an Italian company, headquartered in Modena. Italy is its home market, and it shows: Panini publishes a Marvel Omnibus line there, launched in 2007, in hardcover at 18.3 by 27.7 centimetres — and a dedicated DC Omnibus line as well.

Where the Italian catalogue is strong

Across most of Europe, the strongest case for the American edition is scale: the US line has by far the deepest omnibus programme, and most marquee runs eventually get one, while a translated line puts only a handful into omnibus and sends the rest to other formats.
