Background. Swamp Thing has been Alec Holland for fifty years. Ram V's run starts somewhere else entirely: Levi Kamei, an Indian engineer working in the United States, who begins transforming at night and has no framework for what is happening to him.

What's inside. Collects The Swamp Thing (2021) #1-16 and the Future State issues, written by Ram V with art by Mike Perkins and colours by Mike Spicer.

Why it's worth it. It earned Eisner nominations and a reputation as the strongest Swamp Thing since Alan Moore, largely because Ram V uses the character to write about diaspora and inheritance rather than only ecology. Self-contained, so it needs no prior Swamp Thing reading.
