What's inside. Vol. 1 opens a year after the Corps defeated the Spider Guild, with Guy Gardner assigned against his will to a feudal world of shadows and superstition while the Guardians rebuild their citadel on a fortified Oa. Vol. 2 covers Blackest Night and its aftermath from the Corps' point of view, when their own dead rise against them.

Why it's worth it. Tomasi and Gleason are the reason the Corps works as an ensemble rather than as Hal Jordan's supporting cast: Guy Gardner and Kyle Rayner get the arcs of their careers here, and Kyle's in particular is the best material the character has ever had. The Blackest Night half carries emotional weight the main event could not, because these are the people who buried the dead that come back.
