Description

Background. Hickman's Fantastic Four run concluded with FF (Future Foundation) running simultaneously — the two titles were designed to be read together, with the FF title following the Richards family's cosmic adventures while Future Foundation focused on the school-based characters and their Earth-bound crises. The dual-title structure anticipated the parallel-series approach Hickman would later use on X-Men (House of X/Powers of X) and Avengers/New Avengers.

What's inside. This second Hickman FF omnibus collects the conclusion of his run including the complete Future Foundation material, the Kang confrontations, the payoff of the Council of Reeds conflict, Doctor Doom's role in the cosmic war's resolution, and the restoration of the Richards family following the concluding events. Steve Epting and Nick Dragotta provide the primary artwork for this concluding period.

Why it's worth it. The conclusion of Hickman's FF run demonstrates how thoroughly he had planned the entire narrative from the beginning — payoffs that seem impossible given where the story started make complete sense in retrospect. The Future Foundation concept also introduced Alex Power, Valeria Richards, and a generation of child heroes who would become significant characters in subsequent Marvel publishing. Essential companion to Vol. 1 for any Hickman completist.
