Fantastic Four

The books grouped here give readers a practical way to follow Fantastic Four across collected VO editions. Key linked volumes include Ultimate Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol. 1.

Fantastic Four by John Byrne Omnibus Vol. 1

John Byrne's Fantastic Four run is the second-greatest creative achievement in the character's history after Lee and Kirby's founding run — a systematic reinvention of the team that returned to their core dynamics while introducing major concepts including She-Hulk's substitution for Thing, the death and rebirth of Galactus, the introduction of Frankie Raye as Nova, and the extended Reed Richards trial before the Shi'ar Imperial Guard that is one of the most conceptually ambitious single storylines in 1980s Marvel.

Fantastic Four by Jonathan Hickman Omnibus Vol. 2

The second Hickman omnibus completes his Fantastic Four run, resolving the Council of Reeds, the Kree, the Inhumans and the future Franklin Richards was always going to become. Issue #605 is the standout: a single issue following Reed and his father across the whole span of their lives, which is the quietest thing in the run and the best. Hickman ties off every thread he planted, which almost no long-form superhero run manages, and #611 is a genuine ending rather than a handoff.

Fantastic Four by Jonathan Hickman Omnibus Vol. 1

Jonathan Hickman's Fantastic Four is a story about fathers, sons and the future, built on a simple idea: Reed Richards decides to solve everything. Solve Everything opens with Reed meeting hundreds of alternate versions of himself who have already succeeded, and asking why he has not. The run then earns its emotional weight by killing a founding member and letting the consequences stand. This is Hickman's first major Marvel work and it leads straight to Secret Wars.

Ultimate Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol. 1

Ultimate Fantastic Four rebuilt the team for the Ultimate line: four students at a government think tank rather than four adults in a rocket. Making them nineteen changes everything: Reed is a prodigy nobody supervises, and the accident is his fault in a way the original never was. The Ultimate Marvel Zombies storyline starts in this volume, which is where that entire franchise came from, and the N-Zone arc is Warren Ellis writing hard science fiction.

Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol. 1

The first Fantastic Four omnibus collects the genesis of the Marvel Universe — Jack Kirby and Stan Lee's creation of the concept that would define American superhero comics for six decades. The Fantastic Four #1 through the early issues introduced not just four characters but the entire conceptual framework of the Marvel approach: fallible heroes with genuine relationships, science fiction adventure grounded in human drama, and a shared universe that was being invented issue by issue. These are the issues that changed everything.

Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol. 2

Fantastic Four #1 started the Marvel Universe in 1961, and the Lee and Kirby run that followed invented most of what the company still sells. This is the stretch where the run becomes extraordinary: the Inhumans, the Negative Zone, Doctor Doom's origin in Annual #2 and the arrival of Galactus and the Silver Surfer in #48-50 — the single most influential three issues Marvel published in the sixties. Everything cosmic in the Marvel Universe starts here.

Fantastic Four by Dan Slott Omnibus Vol. 1

Dan Slott's Fantastic Four run began in 2018 and immediately engaged with the team's foundational mythology in ambitious ways — exploring the nature of Richards family intelligence across generations, the Griever's attempt to destroy all that the FF have created, and the team's return to active duty after a period of absence.

Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol. 6

Marv Wolfman's Fantastic Four run represents the final pre-Byrne era — the creative tenure immediately before John Byrne's major reinvention of the team. Wolfman introduced the Frightful Four's most ambitious membership configuration, developed the Nova connection between his simultaneous run on that character and the FF, and used the team format to explore large-scale cosmic threats that his successor Byrne would later ground in more character-focused directions.

Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol. 5

The fifth Fantastic Four omnibus continues Roy Thomas's run through the transition to Len Wein and other writers, covering the period when Marvel was experimenting with the team's format — including the Thing's solo focus, the shifting relationship dynamics post-Medusa's team membership, and the introduction of new antagonists that would define later FF eras. This volume documents the book's creative search for a post-Kirby identity before Byrne's eventual major reimagining.

Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol. 3

The third Fantastic Four omnibus continues Lee and Kirby at full stride, in the years when the book was introducing a new permanent concept almost every month. The density is the point: the Kree and Annihilus both become the basis for decades of Marvel cosmic storytelling, and Adam Warlock's debut here leads directly to the Infinity Gauntlet twenty years later. Franklin Richards' birth is also the first time a superhero team acquired a baby and kept it.

Fantastic Four by John Byrne Omnibus Vol. 2

The second Byrne Fantastic Four omnibus covers the conclusion of his major run, including Sue Storm's evolution from Invisible Girl to Invisible Woman, the extended Secret Wars connection, the Thing's return from self-imposed exile, and a major Doctor Doom conflict that reinforces Doom as one of the team's defining enemies.

Fantastic Four by Waid & Wieringo Omnibus

Mark Waid and Mike Wieringo took over Fantastic Four in 2002 and wrote it as what it always claimed to be: a family of explorers rather than superheroes. Unthinkable is the run's peak and the best Doctor Doom story in decades: Doom wins completely, and what he does with the victory is genuinely disturbing. Waid also writes the most convincing Reed Richards anyone has managed — a man whose intelligence is a character flaw. Wieringo's art keeps the whole thing warm.

Fantastic Four by Millar & Hitch Omnibus

Mark Millar and Bryan Hitch's Fantastic Four run applied the same widescreen action cinema approach the pair had pioneered in The Ultimates to Marvel's First Family — massive scale, cinematic set pieces, and a villain (the Old Power-wielding Skulls) designed for maximum visual spectacle. The run also contained one of comics' most emotionally effective death-and-legacy storylines, as Millar used the threat to the team's future as an opportunity to examine what the Fantastic Four's legacy would be if they were gone.

Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol. 4

Fantastic Four Omnibus Vol. 4 collects the close of the most influential creative run in Marvel history and the transition that followed. It gathers Fantastic Four #94-125 — Jack Kirby's final issues on the title (his last is #102) — and then continues past his departure as Stan Lee is joined by John Romita Sr. and John Buscema, with the peerless inks of Joe Sinnott. It documents the end of an era and the passing of the FF art baton, in an oversized hardcover built for these classics.

Marvel Universe by Arthur Adams Omnibus

Arthur Adams drew relatively little for Marvel and influenced almost everyone who came after. This gathers all of it: the Longshot debut, the X-Men annuals that made his reputation, and a large section of pencils, covers and unused art.

Marvel Universe by Chris Claremont Omnibus

The other Claremont. Everyone knows the sixteen years on Uncanny X-Men; this collects what he was writing everywhere else across four decades, including the first Captain Britain series and a stretch of Doctor Strange. It is the volume that shows the range behind the reputation.
