About the character

More from Alpha Flight

Alpha Flight is Canada's official superhero team. Created by John Byrne in Uncanny X-Men, it has one of Marvel's best-loved first runs of its own.

Alpha Flight by John Byrne Omnibus

Alpha Flight by John Byrne Omnibus

John Byrne created Alpha Flight as a one-off obstacle for the X-Men in 1979 and then spent twenty-eight issues arguing, largely with himself, that Canada's superteam deserved its own book. Including X-Men #120-121 is the point: that is the team's first appearance, drawn by Byrne at the height of his Uncanny run. The series itself is stranger than its reputation — issue #12 kills the lead, #6 is almost silent — and Byrne uses the format to write about a country rather than a city.

Rom: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus Vol. 1-2

Bill Mantlo and Sal Buscema turned a toy licence into one of Marvel's great cult sagas, and this pack collects the original run in two oversized omnibus volumes. Rom: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus Vol. 1

Rom: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus Vol. 1

The first time Rom the Spaceknight's Marvel run has been collected in one book. Bill Mantlo turned a Parker Brothers electronic toy into a genuine Marvel Universe saga, threading the Dire Wraiths through S.H.I.E.L.D., the X-Men and Doctor Strange, while Sal Buscema drew the entire run. It gathers the origin and Rom's arrival on Earth across his first twenty-nine issues, a Bronze Age cult classic locked out of print for decades by licensing disputes.

Heather Hudson suits up as the new Vindicator and seeks out her old friend Wolverine to train her as a super hero! Meanwhile, Attuma pursues former Alphan Marrina, and it will take the combined forces of Alpha Flight and the Avengers to save her - if she even wants to be saved! The persuasive Purple Girl joins Beta Flight, the trickster god Loki makes for a legendary opponent and Bedlam causes carnage for Department H! Even if the team can defeat this powerful foe from James Hudson's past, it won't be without a terrible cost - and a dimension-hopping adventure may lead to the end of Alpha Flight as we know it!
