Description
Background. The second volume covers the abrupt end of the Claremont-Lee collaboration. Following editorial disagreements over creative direction, Chris Claremont left the X-Men after 16 years of writing them continuously. Jim Lee briefly took over the script before leaving to found Image Comics. The result was a historic turning point for Marvel and for American comics.
What’s inside. The second part of the Claremont-Lee relaunch of X-Men, including the final issues of Claremont’s run and the first story arcs where Jim Lee took over the script. All art by Jim Lee. Includes editorial material on the transition and its consequences for the X-Men line.
Why it’s worth it. It marks the end of an era. Seeing Claremont and Lee together in their final collaborative work, with Jim Lee on the verge of revolutionising the industry by founding Image, carries enormous historical significance. For collectors following 1990s Marvel and the transition to Image, this volume is a key piece.
