William Moulton Marston

William Moulton Marston created Wonder Woman in 1941, writing under the pen name Charles Moulton. A trained psychologist, he also co-invented an early systolic-blood-pressure lie detector test, and he built those interests into the character: a heroine whose signature weapon, the Lasso of Truth, compels honesty. Marston shaped Wonder Woman into DC's first major female superhero and one of the three pillars of the DC Universe alongside Superman and Batman.

His work is collected in Wonder Woman: The Golden Age Omnibus, spanning three volumes. These books gather Marston's original run from the character's 1941 debut onward, presenting the Golden Age stories that established Wonder Woman's mythology, her supporting cast, and the themes that still define her today. Read in order, the three volumes trace the foundation of the character as Marston wrote it.
