Background. Invincible is Robert Kirkman's creator-owned superhero saga, launched at Image in 2003, and one of the most important non-Marvel/DC superhero comics ever made. Its reputation exploded further with the acclaimed adult animated adaptation on Prime Video. It's firmly an Image/Skybound universe with its own rules — and its own willingness to follow through on consequences.

Mark Grayson, teenage son of Viltrumite superhero Omni-Man, becomes Invincible, before discovering his father's true mission on Earth, triggering a brutal father-son confrontation and a sweeping coming-of-age epic. Why it's worth it. Invincible proved that an original superhero universe could thrive outside the two giants, with real stakes, real violence and lasting consequences that most cape comics avoid.
