Excalibur was born in 1988 as Marvel's British-based mutant team, created by Chris Claremont and Alan Davis in the aftermath of the Mutant Massacre and Fall of the Mutants. Captain Britain, Kitty Pryde, Nightcrawler, Rachel Summers, and Meggan formed a group that blended superhero tradition with eccentric British humor.

The series stood out for its interdimensional adventures across the Multiverse, facing threats like Sat-Yr-9, the Captain Britain Corps, and the Technet. Alan Davis's tenure as writer-artist elevated the title to one of the era's most beloved, with a unique mix of fantasy, science fiction, and situational comedy.
