Characters

Captain Britain

Captain Britain, Brian Braddock, is a Marvel character whose best work was done entirely outside the United States. His powers derive from mystical sources tied to the British Isles, and his role as protector of Otherworld places him at the intersection of superhero adventure and full-throated fantasy. He is physically powerful, often uncertain, and prone to crises of confidence that make him more interesting than most flag-bearing characters.

Alan Moore and Alan Davis's Captain Britain strips established the multiverse-hopping Corps mythology and gave Brian genuine inner life. Davis's Excalibur run, collected in the Excalibur Omnibus, is the cornerstone, pairing him with Meggan, Rachel Summers, Nightcrawler, and Shadowcat in stories mixing interdimensional comedy with real emotional consequence. The Jaspers' Warp and Cross-Time Caper remain defining arcs. Tini Howard's Krakoa-era Excalibur revisited Brian's Otherworld entanglements with an Arthurian framework that expanded the mythology further.
