Bermejo paints him without theatricality — scarred, physical, wearing a cheap suit — and the result is closer to Scorsese than to a superhero comic. Batman appears for four pages and it is enough.

Why it's worth it. Darwyn Cooke's Minutemen is genuinely excellent and is the reason most people keep this book — it may be the last major work he completed. The omnibus is also the only practical way to own the whole project, and the oversized format suits Cooke's and Conner's artwork particularly well.
