Mike Allred
Mike Allred draws with a pop-art clarity that is both joyful and deeply strange. Inspired by 1960s illustration and Jack Kirby filtered through a post-punk sensibility, his style treats figures as bold graphic statements rather than attempts at realism. On X-Statix with Peter Milligan, his pages gave a deeply subversive comic — one that treated superhero celebrity culture as satire — a visual language that looked deceptively cheerful. The violence landed harder because the art was so sunny. His Silver Surfer with Dan Slott brought the same logic to cosmic Marvel.
