Bob McLeod
Bob McLeod co-created the New Mutants — both the concept and the characters' visual identities. The original graphic novel and the early issues established the look of Cannonball, Wolfsbane, Mirage, Sunspot, and Karma as the world first saw them. His style is warm and approachable, rooted in clean Marvel tradition but with an expressiveness that suited the younger, more emotionally vulnerable cast. His costume designs set the template that Sienkiewicz and Liefeld would later build on.
The New Mutants graphic novel and earliest issues are collected in the New Mutants omnibus VO volumes. These are the pages where Wolfsbane transforms for the first time, where Cannonball is still learning to control his power. For collectors of X-Men-adjacent material, McLeod's contribution is a founding document — the first visual statement on characters who became central to the franchise for four decades.
