Description
Context. Charlie Huston's 2006 Moon Knight relaunch was a deliberate act of creative violence against the character's previous incarnations. Huston wrote Marc Spector as a broken man — knees shattered, psychology fractured, the multiple personalities no longer a quirk but a crisis — and the result was one of the darker modern Moon Knight runs Marvel had published.
What it contains. This omnibus collects the Huston, Benson, and Hurwitz era of Moon Knight — the complete dark relaunch that ran through multiple writers while maintaining its bleak psychological tone. It includes Marc Spector's violent return to crime fighting and the supporting cast and villains reestablished for the modern era.
Why it's worth reading. Huston's Moon Knight is genuinely disturbing in a way few superhero comics achieve. The violence is purposeful rather than gratuitous, serving a portrait of a man who uses brutality as a substitute for the sanity he doesn't have. David Finch's artwork on the early issues is some of his finest work. This run remains the touchstone for gritty Moon Knight interpretations.
