Harry G. Peter

Harry G. Peter's art is instantly recognizable as the founding visual language of Wonder Woman. His stylized, decorative Golden Age line gave the character an ornamental elegance far removed from the muscular house style that later dominated superhero comics. Flat figures, patterned costumes and a mature, almost illustrative touch set his pages apart.

Peter drew Wonder Woman from her 1941 debut through the 1950s, and that long, unbroken run is what defines his work. Those early stories are collected in Wonder Woman: The Golden Age Omnibus, the edition that gathers his foundational art on the character across her first decade and a half in print.

Wonder Woman: The Golden Age Omnibus Vol. 3

This third New Edition volume gathers the final stretch of William Moulton Marston and Harry G. Peter's original Wonder Woman run, with Joye Murchison and Robert Kanigher joining as Marston's health declined. Diana faces the criminal cartel Villainy Inc. led by Eviless, while her Amazon lore, Paradise Island, and the loving submission themes reach their fullest Golden Age form. These stories, meticulously restored, capture the character right before her creator's death reshaped the title.

Collectors seek a Peter omnibus because his pages are where Wonder Woman visually began. Owning the Golden Age material in a single USA hardcover volume preserves the original look of one of the most historically important superhero characters, drawn by the artist who first brought her to the page.
