Donny Cates is an American comic book writer who rose to prominence at Marvel with critically acclaimed runs on Thanos, Venom, Doctor Strange, and Thor. His Venom run reintroduced the alien symbiote with cosmic-scale horror and introduced the villain Knull, the God of Symbiotes, culminating in the King in Black event. His Thor run brought the character to new mythological extremes. All of his Marvel omnibus collections are highly sought after by collectors.
