Description
Background. By the late 1980s, Claremont's Wolverine solo series was operating in direct dialogue with the escalating crisis in Uncanny X-Men — the Mutant Massacre had left Logan physically and psychologically scarred, and the series used that damage as the foundation for a sustained examination of how the character processes trauma. This omnibus volume captures the series at its most psychologically intense, with Claremont pushing the healing-factor concept to its philosophical limits.
What's inside. This omnibus collects the later Claremont Wolverine issues, covering the post-Mutant Massacre period, the Fall of the Mutants tie-in material, Wolverine's time in the Savage Land, and his complex relationship with the Tiger Shark and associated storylines. Multiple artists contribute, including John Buscema, Rick Leonardi, and Rob Liefeld in early Marvel work.
Why it's worth it. This volume represents Claremont at his most willing to push Wolverine into genuinely dark psychological territory — the healing factor stories of this period ask what it means to be unkillable in ways that the later action-oriented Hama run didn't pursue. For Claremont completists and readers interested in the character's psychological complexity, this is the most rewarding of the three Claremont Wolverine omnibuses.
