The modern Guardians of the Galaxy are the team that Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning relaunched in 2008 as part of the Marvel Cosmic universe: Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket Raccoon and Groot. A dysfunctional bunch who rescued the Marvel Cosmic universe from decades of obscurity and went on to star in films, TV series and three phases of the MCU.
