Darwyn Cooke
Darwyn Cooke was a master stylist who brought mid-century elegance back to comics. His DC: The New Frontier reframed the birth of the Silver Age heroes as optimistic 1950s Americana, winning multiple Eisner Awards and redefining retro-superhero storytelling with clean, animation-influenced art. He also revived Catwoman with Ed Brubaker and adapted Richard Stark's Parker crime novels into acclaimed graphic novels.
DC: The New Frontier is collected in a definitive deluxe edition — his signature work, marrying gorgeous design to a genuine love of the characters. His Parker adaptations, The Hunter, The Outfit, The Score and Slayground, are gathered as a hardcover set that stands among the finest crime comics of the century, all steely noir and impeccable staging.

Cooke died in 2016; his output was small but almost flawless, which makes his collected editions genuine keepers. Buy them for craft: every page is a lesson in storytelling clarity, and these hardcovers are as close to art books as superhero and crime comics get.
